Nalu Retreat

Nalu Retreat sits on Porters Lake in Nova Scotia, approximately 30 minutes from Halifax and 40 minutes from Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The name itself carries intention: Nalu is a Hawaiian word referring to the waves of the ocean, and to nalu means to meditate, ponder, and contemplate with a mind free of the waves of thought and mental disturbance.

The retreat offers three private, four-season luxury geodesic domes and one secluded Private Lakeside Villa, each designed as an adults-only escape for two guests. The domes feature 16-foot-high ceilings and large panoramic windows that bring nature indoors, along with well-equipped kitchens, spa-inspired bathrooms, fireplaces, queen-size beds, private decks with private hot tubs, BBQs, and seasonal outdoor showers. The Lakeside Villa provides direct waterfront access and private beach access, with similar amenities and modern finishes. All accommodations are smoke-free, pet-free, and maintain a two-adult maximum occupancy.

The retreat's approach to wellness centers on Nordic spa rituals—the water circuit of hydrotherapy combining hot and cold therapy to release tension, improve blood circulation, activate the lymphatic system, and promote the release of endorphins. Guests can enjoy massage treatments, locally sourced meals, and curated wellness packages. The property includes a shared fire pit and walking trails, with a shared sauna currently under construction. Amenities within each accommodation include yoga mats, singing bowls, meditation instruments, board games, adult coloring books, and nature sound machines to support self-directed healing.

Nalu Retreat maintains a spa-like atmosphere through intentional policies. Guests are asked to use spa voices throughout the property, as sound travels easily through the fabric dome walls.
